Bio and Artist’s Statement

Biography for Lynn Fargo

Though I have sketched and been fascinated by art all my life, my profession has been elementary teaching of primary children.  For 30 years it was my pleasure to unlock student’s potential in academics and the arts.  I was fortunate to receive training from the Getty Art Institute for teachers, which better informed my visual arts instruction. My classes regularly engaged in drawing and painting while learning the basics of the visual arts.

Upon retirement I began my journey as a full-time watercolorist.  I jump started my learning with an in-person workshop with the famous watercolor portrait painter, Mary Whyte.  I have also taken in person art lessons with Kay Barnes, a notable watercolor artist.  Through books, online classes, and daily practice I have honed my skills.  I create landscapes and portraits in the studio, as well as plein air paintings.

I am a member of the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Artists, the Plein Air Washington Artists, and the Northwest Watercolor Society.

My art has recently been featured in the CBD Gallery juried show, the Mt. Si Artist Guild Juried Show, and the Puget Sound Group juried member show called The Enchanted Every Day.

Artist’s Statement

My focus is on the endless variety of the natural world and the people that inhabit it.  I am a watercolorist that uses paints and brushes in a dance with water. When I am painting, I make an impression of my feelings of a scene or person.  Sometimes the water creates something I did not expect. That makes the process exciting.
